Biography

Mauricio started to play guitar and sing at the age of seven. He plays Classical, Flamenco, Classic Rock and many other styles. After graduating with a BA(H) in Special Education and a Diploma in Classical Guitar from his native Chile,
Mauricio moved to Canada and began teaching in Northern Ontario before coming to Kingston. His teaching methodologies encompass both traditional and modern academic approaches. From popular to classical guitar, beginners
to advanced levels, his emphasis is on developing repertoire while maintaining clean techniques for all styles.

He also uses music therapy to reinforce rhythm and listening perception to target language development for children with learning disorders. A prolific performer and recording artist, Mauricio has been broadcast on CBC & CBS and has
participated in numerous festivals and concerts around the world. Performing solo or with a band, he showcases original songs, guitar compositions and Latin covers with global music influences.

Napanee's Avril Lavigne got her start performing by singing country songs at local fairs. In 1999 she got to perform the song "What Made You Say That"with Shania Twain at the Corel Centre in Ottawa to about 20,000 people.
