Ivan Stoiljkovi? was born in 1976 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He began his musical education at the age of seven. Having chosen violin as his instrument, he attended Vladimir Dordevic Primary School of Music in his native Belgrade. He won 1st and 2nd prizes with the School Orchestra at the Repulic-wide annual competitions. Ivan continued his music education at Borislav Stankovi? Secondary School of Music also in Belgrade. After a year of study he moved to Kitchener, Ontario where he continued to study violin under the tutelage of Eduard Minevich (concertmaster of the KitchenerWaterloo Symphony Orchestra). He enrolled in the University of Western Ontario Music Programme in 1995 but transferred to Wilfrid Laurier University a year later where he continued to study music for another two years. He graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts (History) and continued his studies in History at Queen’s University in Kingston where he earned a Maters of Arts Degree in History in 2001. He has worked as a private violin instructor in Kitchener and Kingston. He has been teaching violin at Renaissance School of Music since 2009.
