Biography

Caitlin is an Ontario Certified Teacher and professional saxophonist from Kingston. She has studied with Chris Alfano and Peter Freeman and has had the opportunity to perform as a guest soloist with both the Queen’s Symphony Orchestra and Kingston Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of the Queen’s Bachelor of Music program, she was also a long-term member of the Wind and Jazz Ensembles, and has performed solo recitals as a part of the Applied Performance stream.For five years, Caitlin has led the Queen’s Saxophone Quartet – a two time winner of the Excellence in Chamber Music
Award.
Her work as an educator has included teaching private music lessons, children’s theatre, music directing, classroom teaching, and coaching competitive soccer. Caitlin believes in creating a positive and stimulating atmosphere built upon
encouragement and the opportunity for student-made decisions. She works to develop a well-rounded and personalized method of study to best serve individual learning needs. Students will learn to take ownership of their learning and feel motivated to improve as musicians.

Napanee's Avril Lavigne got her start performing by singing country songs at local fairs. In 1999 she got to perform the song "What Made You Say That"with Shania Twain at the Corel Centre in Ottawa to about 20,000 people.
