Govfest is an annual music and cultural show organized by public servants to celebrate music and the arts and to support community-based projects around the world. Proceeds from Govfest events go to Ryan’s Well Foundation and United Way.
GovFest Kingston 2018 consists of 9 local bands in support of the United Way KFLA and Ryan’s Well Foundation.
The Public Service Battle of The Bands: Musical acts will compete at the “Battles Stages” and “Knock-out Rounds” across Ontario from November 1st to November 30th. Musicians will perform on fully equipped stages for your votes for the highly-prized “Judge’s Choice” and “Crowd’s Choice” awards.
The evenings represent a great time to connect with colleagues while seeing the best in music and stage performances. There will be approximately 5 to 8 bands per stage per night. Some limited speeches and opening remarks will start the itinerary. Then the show begins!
During the contest, each band gets 25 minutes (6-7 songs) play time. Vote for your favourite band at the venue. Votes are tallied at the events and the highest voted band advances to the Knockout Round or Grand Finale Showcase.

Napanee's Avril Lavigne got her start performing by singing country songs at local fairs. In 1999 she got to perform the song "What Made You Say That"with Shania Twain at the Corel Centre in Ottawa to about 20,000 people.
