THE TONEKATS – Your spirit on stage! & Covers you want to sing and dance to!
REQUEST IT – GET WHAT YOU WANT! The ToneKats’ business is rock n roll and business is good! This band has some serious star power in its personnel. John Sedgwick, bassist, vocalist and possibly the hippest rocker in the limestone city was the leader of the “Beautiful Losers” an indie band in Toronto in the early nineties that shared stages with the likes of Blue Rodeo, Joan Osborne, Mountain, Jeff Healey, Modern English, Slik Toxic and many more. Before that he was in Gasoline, another band that heavily influenced the Tragically Hip. Dave Bull, one of Kingston’s best rock guitarists began his career like John Sedgwick in Toronto with Stonehenge in the late 70s, moving to Kingston in the early eighties where he played with The Rave, The Rockabilly AllStars as well as 20 years on stages across Ontario and New York in “Buddy Holly Live”. Graham Ketcheson “Groove Commute” is the drummer who rounds out the band and brings a thundering rock sound and a tightness few can rival. He played with ChIlly Gonzalez at 16 and has incredible chops. Sedgwick and Bull began the project in 2006 and have played over 300 shows, more than 50 at the Merchant Tap House where their crowds pack their shows because of the variety and their ability to play requests. You won’t find many bands with a repertoire this large with an even spread of tunes from every decade and lots of new music. This band is a crowd favourite every time they play and the packed houses gig after gig tell the whole story! You want to hear it, call it out, they probably know it and will play it right there and then!
