Finding merit in all manner of music, Ottawa-based Metronome Jones stretches beyond their alternative roots to explore sounds borrowed from genres as varied as progressive rock, funk, and grunge. From their beginnings in 2011, the band has been carving out an energetic and honest musical space to house their brand of hard indie. The result is a searing alternative rock offering that combines Matthew Yorke’s raw, overpowering vocals and sticky-fingered guitar meshes with Ben Matte’s smooth, overdriven bass, and Matt Holmgren’s indomitable drumming. Following the release of previous EPs, Vices (2012) and Porch (2013), the band has grown into a more cohesive trio, culminating in their most dynamic effort yet, 2015’s Metronome Jones.
