The band consists of a core of students ages 12-24 who sing (with harmonies) and play keyboards, drum kit, cajon, djembe, bodhran, electric and acoustic guitar, violin, electric bass, ukulele, saxophone, trumpet and various rhythm instruments. The name comes from the fact that the onstage performers change depending on availability and the size of the gig! HoozHear? has performed as a trio all the way up to 12 instruments and vocalists. Their repertoire currently consists of over 100 songs by Stevie Wonder, The Police, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Of Monsters and Men, The White Stripes, and many more mainstream and eclectic artists.
This is not your standard teen “garage band”. A sense of professionalism and cohesion is evident. This group gigs approximately once a month and has played in festivals, for seniors, schools, dances, businesses, and service organizations. The band receives professional coaching.
